Donation Honoring June Dairy Month Helps Get Milk to Those in Need
FITCHBURG, Wis. [June 7, 2022] – In honor of June Dairy Month and the farmers who provide nutritious milk, Wisconsin-based cheesemaker Emmi Roth donated $5,000 to Second Harvest’s Adopt-A-Dairy Cow Program.
The program, started in 2015, was designed to address the shortage of food pantry milk donations. Since its start, the Adopt-A-Dairy Cow program and partners, including Emmi Roth, have helped provide more than 200,000 gallons of milk to the community in southwest Wisconsin.
“As a company rooted deeply in agriculture, we know just how essential it is to have a nutritious food like milk on the table,” said Angie Frie, a founding member of Emmi Roth’s Giving and Caring Committee. “We’re committed to making sure families visiting food pantries have access to nutrient-rich, wholesome milk – a staple on tables across America and in the cheese we produce every day.”

The Adopt-A-Dairy Cow program runs through the end of June, and everyone can make a difference.

- Select how many half-gallons of milk you’d like to provide
“Just $25 can provide 16 half gallons of milk to families in need,” said Frie. “It’s a donation that can truly make a difference for many families in need.”
Donators will not only receive a certificate of adoption for their chosen cow, but they’ll also receive a coupon for a quart of free ice cream. And the first $30,000 in donations will be matched. Those looking to make a longer-term impact can also sign up for monthly contributions – to help keep milk on food pantry shelves year-round.
