BLT Avocado Burger

Yield: 1 burger

 

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 3/4 cups sweet onion, sliced
  • 2 tsp fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp chipotle pepper sauce
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp chipotle powder
  • 1/2 cup ground sirloin
  • 2 slices (2 ounces) Natural Melt™ Creamy Fontina
  • 1 hamburger bun, 3” diameter, split
  • 2 strips bacon, cooked
  • 1/4 avocado, sliced
  • Lettuce and tomato, for topping

 

Method

  1. Heat oil in sauté pan over medium-high. Add onions and garlic and sauté until lightly browned, approximately 3 – 4 minutes.
  2. Stir in molasses, chipotle pepper sauce, vinegar and ketchup. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. In small bowl, combine salt, pepper and chipotle powder. Season ground sirloin with spice mixture and form into a patty. Grill to a minimum of 160 degrees F, topping wiith Natural Melt™ Creamy Fontina for last minute of cook time.
  4. Place patty on bottom half of bun. Top with onions in sauce, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and top half of bun.
