Ingredients
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 3/4 cups sweet onion, sliced
- 2 tsp fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp molasses
- 1 tsp chipotle pepper sauce
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp chipotle powder
- 1/2 cup ground sirloin
- 2 slices (2 ounces) Natural Melt™ Creamy Fontina
- 1 hamburger bun, 3” diameter, split
- 2 strips bacon, cooked
- 1/4 avocado, sliced
- Lettuce and tomato, for topping
Method
- Heat oil in sauté pan over medium-high. Add onions and garlic and sauté until lightly browned, approximately 3 – 4 minutes.
- Stir in molasses, chipotle pepper sauce, vinegar and ketchup. Reduce heat to low and simmer until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In small bowl, combine salt, pepper and chipotle powder. Season ground sirloin with spice mixture and form into a patty. Grill to a minimum of 160 degrees F, topping wiith Natural Melt™ Creamy Fontina for last minute of cook time.
- Place patty on bottom half of bun. Top with onions in sauce, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and top half of bun.
