BBQ Beef Grilled Cheesesteak

Yield: 2 sandwiches

 

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, sliced 1/4′ thick
  • 1/2 cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 8 slices roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp barbeque sauce
  • 6 slices (6 ounces) Natural Melt™ Creamy Fontina

 

Method

  1. Heat oil in sauté pan over medium high. Add garlic, onions and mushrooms. Cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from pan and reserve. Wipe pan clean.
  2. Butter outside surface of 2 slices of bread. Layer beef onto unbuttered side of bread, top with barbeque sauce, 3 slices Natural Melt™ Creamy Fontina, onion mixture and another slice of bread (buttered side out). Repeat for second sandwich.
  3. Heat sauté pan over medium low. Cook sandwich until cheese is fully melted, approximately 4-5 minutes per side. Serve with warm au jus for dipping.
